Over the course of the next year we will be looking at the Fourth Gospel.  Starting with the prologue in chapter one and working through the epilogue we will seek to understand what it means to live our our faith in an urban context--John's context is situated in the City whereas the Synoptics are situated in the suburbs and villages.  We will seek to understand what it means to have eternal life, now.  What it means to follow Jesus Christ in the City of San Francisco.  We want to plumb the depths of this book and in so doing wrestle through the topcis of the Beloved Community, the Beloved Disciple, mediating Christ to a hostile culture and world.

• We hope to offer an urban translation of the Gospel of John to our City.  To this end we will be translating the Gospel as we go along.
• We hope to set in motion a community of love and grace--Beloved Community.  To this end we will be introducing Beloved Communities around the City.
• We hope to clarify the tough issues of being an apprentice to Jesus in our world.  To this end we will introduce a model for following Jesus.
• We hope to create art and music that reflect this story.  To this end we will be displaying art, writing songs, crafting a story that reflects the beauty of Jesus Christ as seen in the Fourth Gospel.
• We hope to mediate and testify to the Son of God in our City.  To this end we will tool those who seek to be apprentences to Jesus in sharing the story and fanning the faith through.  We will discuss how to be a better witness.  How to be an apprentice and mentoring other into this relationship.  How to connect people with the living Christ.

Our hope is that somewhere along the way, we will become an authentic Beloved Community in San Francisco.  That our faith and love for Jesus Christ will grow stronger.  And that many, many people will come to know Jesus Christ through our journey.
